Bollywood actor Preity Zinta has strongly refuted allegations made by Congress Kerala, which claimed she handed over her social media accounts to a political party and had an ₹18 crore loan written off. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Preity called the claims “fake news” and clarified that her loan had been fully repaid over a decade ago.
Preity Zinta Responds to Congress Kerala
On Tuesday, Preity Zinta took to social media to address the accusations made by Congress Kerala. The party had shared a post alleging that she had aligned with a political party in exchange for financial benefits. Dismissing these claims, Preity tweeted, “No, I operate my social media accounts myself, and shame on you for promoting FAKE NEWS! No one wrote off anything or any loan for me.”
She also expressed disappointment over political entities spreading misinformation, stating, “I’m shocked that a political party or their representative is indulging in vile gossip & click baits using my name & images. For the record, a loan was taken and FULLY PAID BACK – over 10 years ago.”
Congress Kerala’s Allegations
On Monday, Congress Kerala shared a report featuring Preity’s photo, alleging that she had given control of her social media accounts to the BJP and had her ₹18 crore loan waived off. The post further claimed that the bank involved had collapsed, leaving depositors in distress.
This controversy comes just days after Preity expressed concerns about growing cynicism on social media. She had tweeted about being labeled for expressing political opinions, saying, “If you appreciate your PM, then you are a bhakt, and if you are a proud Hindu or Indian, then you are an Andh Bhakt!”
Preity Zinta’s Upcoming Projects
Preity, who was last seen in Bhaiaji Superhit (2018), is set to make her Bollywood comeback with Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film will also star Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Sunny Deol, who will share screen space with his son Karan Deol.
